Jeff has authored over 600 published articles about sports, pop culture and historical/presidential collecting. He is a former sports columnist for the St. Louis Dispatch, STL Today, and has written for the San Diego Union-Tribune. In addition, his articles appear regularly in Basketball Times, The Journal of Antiques and Collectibles, Collectors Journal, Sports Collectors Digest, and other magazines in the collectibles field. He has written for Bottom Line Personal and SportsBusiness Journal as well. He has been the Collectibles Editor for Hall of Fame Media and a syndicated radio talk show host through Sports Byline, heard by millions of people in 173 countries on the American Forces Network. Jeff Figler is the author of six books on collectibles, including Collecting for Beginners and Collectible Wisdom. His latest book, Picker’s Pocket Guide to Baseball Memorabilia, was published by Krause Publications in December 2014, ranking #1 on Amazon.com in the Sports Memorabilia category. It is also available at some Major League Baseball team stores as well as the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown. Jeff is a Professional Certified Sports Memorabilia Appraiser, having successfully passed the USPAP (Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice) exam. He is a Certified Member of the Appraisers Association of America (AAA) as well as an Accredited Member with the International Society of Appraisers (ISA). Jeff is a graduate from Arizona State University with a BA and an MBA. He also has a law degree. Jeff attended New York University and received a certificate in appraisal studies. As the director of Jeff Figler’s Sports Appraisals & Consulting, Jeff prepares written appraisals specializing in sports memorabilia for insurance coverage, charitable donations, and estate tax liability. Jeff’s clients have included high profile individuals such as a Hollywood producer, museums, universities, insurance companies, and attorneys. He is also a sports memorabilia appraiser consultant for such appraisal companies as Kersten’s Antiques, Pall Mall Art Advisors, Gurr Johns, and Rago Arts & Auction Center and for insurance companies, such as AIG, Chubb, PURE, and Hartford. Jeff has worked very closely with SCP Auctions, Heritage Auctions, Texas Sports Hall of Fame Museum, and many others auction houses. Jeff and his wife, Linda, established the Figler Foundation and Museum in 2006. The Museum has been featured by major media across the United States. Included in the Museum’s sports, historical/presidential, and pop culture galleries is a Honus Wagner baseball card (considered the “Holy Grail” of sports cards), as well as Beatles and Superman memorabilia, and a handwritten letter by every U.S. president. How did Jeff get started? His mother, Millie, never threw away his baseball cards or comic books. Jeff and Linda reside in St. Louis, San Diego, and London.
